1. Location, location, location!
Where do we even start? You want a photographer who is going to capture the day exactly how YOU remember it - and trust us, no two weddings are alike. We understand that weddings may not always be at the same place, but the venue should be just as special as the couple themselves. Finding the right wedding photographer means looking at their portfolio, seeing what they’ve done before, and knowing if they are someone you'd love to work with. A good photographer will make sure that you're comfortable throughout the entire event and will give you pointers if anything goes wrong. Don't let your wedding go without a photo album! Photo albums are great for sharing memories and showcasing moments that didn't quite turn out how you wanted them to. Try to choose a photographer who specializes in weddings, as they have experience photographing these events and know what works well.
2. Photos should tell the whole story
You've chosen the perfect dress; you got your hair and makeup done for the day, and you did your absolute best to get ready. Now it's time to relax and enjoy yourself, only your photographer can take pictures that show off your personality and tell your story. Your photographer shouldn't be a stranger on set either. Do some research and find out if they'll be able to travel to your destination (or if they prefer to stay local). You'll need to look at his/her website, social media, and previous work to get a feel for how he/she works. Even if you hire the same photographer for your engagement shoot and wedding, it's still a good idea to meet in person before the big event. If you're worried about getting stuck with a bad photographer, ask friends and family for recommendations.
3. Check Websites
Websites like TheKnot.com offer discounts for couples planning on getting married in certain cities. Check around before booking your photographer.
4. Go online for inspiration
Once you've selected a few potential photographers, it's time to start researching them. Search online for galleries of their work and contact the photographers directly via email. Ask questions about their style and pricing. Get as much information as you can about each photographer before making any decisions.
5. Book early
Booking early will ensure that you get the date and time that you want. Most vendors will require deposits and payment before setting a date. Make sure you book well in advance.
Send us a message here if you'd like to book a session or if you still have any questions, we'll be happy to get back in touch!
The booking of sessions is based on the photographer's availability. Nothing is considered final until a contract is signed and appropriate fees are obtained.
